Winning a WSOP Circuit Ring Under Extraordinary Circumstances
It’s been a while since I last blogged as I’ve been busy traveling and took a trip to Mexico after the WSOP. In this blog, I want to share the unforgettable experience of winning a WSOP Circuit Ring online on WSOP.com while I was in Las Vegas for the 2022 WSOP. It was one of the most bizarrely amazing experiences I’ve ever had playing poker!
It all happened towards the end of the WSOP. The Closer event was underway, and I was simultaneously playing the WSOP Circuit online event on my phone. I found myself at the final table with a decent stack, probably four out of eight players. However, my stack was pretty decent compared to the second and third guys. Then, chaos broke out. I saw people running, with some falling down, and many others shouting. It was then that I heard someone mention an armed person outside the room trying to enter, causing a panic. Everyone began running in the same direction, pushing and shoving to escape. I held onto my phone and left everything else, including my bag with my passport and cash, and started running to get out of the cardroom.
Amid this commotion, I was still trying to play the circuit event on my phone when the WiFi suddenly dipped, and I started getting disconnected. I scrambled to find a different WiFi connection, determined to focus on the game. After finding a safe spot in the back alley of the casino, the event was down to the last three players, and I gave it my all amidst the chaos. And I managed to win the event, something that brought me immense joy in the midst of all the turmoil.
The experience was traumatic for everyone, with many people sustaining injuries during the stampede. It was only after winning the WSOP Circuit ring that the gravity of the situation truly hit me. Muskan Sethi, who was at my table, was also shaken by the incident, and I saw many others with injuries when I returned to the room.
People were in shock and trauma, but for me, the adrenaline rush from winning the WSOP Circuit ring kept me focused on reconnecting to the WiFi. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, and I was able to bring home a WSOP Circuit gold ring.
It’s a bittersweet story – winning amidst chaos and panic. I am just grateful that the situation ended well and that I was able to achieve this feat.
